The small scale and direct handling give the work the immediacy of a study painted from nature.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eA work given to Frank Short\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inscription records that Clausen gave the canvas to Frank Short in 1889. It later passed through Abbott \u0026amp; Holder in London in 1975.
