Nikolaus Joseph Freiherr von Jacquin, master of naturalistic observation
Nikolaus Joseph Freiherr von Jacquin, botanist and illustrator of the 18th century, is renowned for his contributions to systematics and scientific illustration. Traveler and collaborator of major institutions of his time, he brought back countless specimens and created plates where rigor and aesthetics meet. Influenced by Linnaean tradition and European naturalist expeditions, Jacquin was able to transcribe botany into precise images that influenced both herbariums and artistic collections. This work is part of that lineage, bearing witness to an ancient craftsmanship brought to light through a careful and respectful reproduction of the original.
