Embarkation of troops at Cherbourg - Second World War
This historical photograph captures the embarkation of Allied troops at Cherbourg on June 18, 1940, shortly before the arrival of the 7th Panzer Division of General Rommel. Two ships can be seen at the dock, loaded with soldiers, ready to set sail. Two tugboats are also in position to ensure the departure.
The troops present belong to the 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division, reinforced by soldiers from the Beauman Force, a unit made up of personnel from the British services in Le Havre and the 51st Highland Division. Some French soldiers, on the quay, are also participating in this significant event of the Second World War, witnessing the allied cooperation in critical moments.
A unique visual document illustrating the logistics and tension of a strategic withdrawal under the imminent threat of enemy forces.

- The canvases are placed on a wooden frame 2cm thick for small formats and 4cm for large formats
