Discover the story behind this artwork
Discover the wild beauty of the region with this vintage Mortain poster, a peaceful scene by Georges Normand.
Printed in 1912 for the State Railways, this poster depicts the wooded and rugged landscapes of Mortain, a small town nestled in the heart of Normandy. Through the slender trunks of the pines, one can see a deep gorge where a peaceful stream flows, bathed in the evening light. The artist Georges Normand captures here the essence of untouched nature, conducive to escape and calm.
A rare work, between nature and railway heritage
This vintage Mortain poster is typical of early 20th-century decorative art, with its flat colors, clean lines, and invitation to travel. It embodies both the aesthetic of tourist posters of the time and the richness of the landscapes of Manche.
Faithfully reproduced, this poster fits perfectly into vintage wall decor, a nature-inspired interior, or a heritage space. It evokes the lesser-known Normandy, far from the beaches, yet just as spectacular. A graphic treasure for lovers of antique art, forest landscapes, and serenity.
